Costumes and props

The model will be wearing the latest fashion trends, which are very funky and what my target audience is interested in. This will hopefully produce a higher chance of the magazine grabbing their attention.

Props used in the photo shoot will consist of a pair of headphones, CD's, a pair of black glasses, a snapback hat and possibly some balloons. These will all create a variety of very unique photos.

MOOC

Recently, I completed a Photography MOOC, which stands for a "massive open online course". This course was called 'The Art Of Photography'. It lasted 3 weeks and consisted of watching tutorials and answering tests at the end of each module. There were 4 modules altogether. The first one was 'light through lenses', the second was 'photography's evolution', the third was 'the digital darkroom' and the fourth was 'visual language and creative photography'. This course helped me understand lighting, backgrounds, frames, how to use the camera and the history of photography. Overall, I managed to receive 70%, which I was happy with. Doing this MOOC really helped me with my photography skills, especially when it came to doing my shoot.

Magazine article

****THE BLONDE BOMBSHELL BLOWS UP THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, SNAPPING UP TO FOUR BRIT AWARDS AND TAKING ON AMERICA****

It has been 'a crazy year', says Chloe. We feel this is somewhat an understatement to describe what the 18 year old has experienced this year. This time last year the name "Chloe White" had not been mentioned in the music industry but now, everyone is fighting to to see a piece of her musical sensation. Her rise to fame came when she supported Rihanna on her world tour, where the biggest audience consisted of 20,000 people.  Amongst the crowd in New York was an agent from Universal who upon hearing her incredible voice, knew she had to be signed. Her career took off almost immediately, where within two months her début single "Believe"had reached number one in iTunes, where it stayed for a solid 8 weeks. Five months later, her first album was released, from which 6 songs managed to make it into the UK's official top ten. As if that wasn't enough, "Believe" then broke into America, becoming Billboards number one. More recently, the star completely dominated this years Brit Awards winning Best Album, Best Video, Critics Choice and British Breakthrough. Sitting facing the star it is hard to comprehend how she must be feeling. Just to give you an idea of what Chloe faces in everyday life, we followed Chloe for two days through Australia, whilst on her world tour.

Hiya Chloe, we are very excited to have you here today! How are you?

Hey guys, I am extremely excited to be here today with you. I have always read Focus magazine and I can't quite believe I am here with you guys. Although, flying all the way from Australia, I am very tired.

How does it feel shooting to fame as fast as you did?

It is so surreal, one minute I am living with my mum struggling to pay the rent and then last week I brought my own penthouse apartment in London.

"IT'S LIKE I WOKE UP IN SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE!"

Tell us what has been your favourite moment of 2016 so far?

I would have to say the Brit Awards. It was by far the craziest but best night of my life. I am thrilled to be this years critics choice.

Have you found that you have made any new celebrity friends since finding fame?

Well I am very close to Rihanna now considering I toured with her, but along the way I have met some lovely people. I met One Direction and Ariana Grande whilst we were on tour and Jennifer Laurence, Adele and Rita Ora at the Brit Awards. However, Kylie Jenner and I have become very close, due to her boyfriend Tyga featuring in one of my songs.

"CARA DELEVIGNE TWEETED ME...I SCREAMED!"

Now that you're always being spotted shopping, what was the first big thing you went out and brought yourself?

Well I brought my apartment in London, which was very exciting, but recently I purchased a Chanel clutch bag, which I am in love with, I take it everywhere! Fashion has always been something that has interested me, so it's something I will spend my money on. As  much as I love the designer brands, I am still in love with my high-street brands, especially Topshop. I have always read Focus magazine, I used to sign up for monthly magazine subscriptions. Not only did I love the music section but the fashion pages were just amazing and I would love reading about all the latest celebrity gossip. Just to think I could be reading about myself is unbelievable.

We all know you love your movies and Netflix series. What's your favourite movie(s) and Netflix show(s)?

AHHHH, I have so many favourite movies!!! My favourites are LOL, Endless Love, Mean Girls and The Fault In Our Stars. My favourite Netflix shows are Gossip Girl, PLL, Vampire Diaries and Orange Is The New Black. I also love watching reality TV shows including TOWIE, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Ex On The Beach and Geordie Shore. But now that I'm always travelling and am really busy, I don't have time to watch everything anymore.

We all know every girl loves her make-up. What is your favourite make-up brand?

I absolutely lovveeee MAC! It is by far my favourite, I wear it everyday, it's so good!

What artist inspires you? Who do you look up to the most?

Since doing the tour with Rihanna, I have noticed how much of a big star she is and she really inspires me. But there is one person in particular that I have always admired who is Taylor Swift. Not only is she gorgeous, but she is an amazing singer and songwriter whom has always inspired me. I really hope I can met her one day!

"RIHANNA IS JUST THE LOVLIEST PERSON I'VE EVER MET!"

Do you have a celebrity crush?

I have always loved Justin Bieber, he has such an amazing voice, as well as his amazing body!

We already know that you will be attending Glastonbury this year, what other festivals will you be appearing at?

Yes, I cannot wait for Glastonbury! I will also be performing at Lovebox, Wireless and V-festival in the summer.

So tell us more about your upcoming album.

It will be released next month on 14th May and there are ten tracks on the album. Hope you all enjoy it!

Will you go on tour with your album?

Yes I will be starting my tour in September next year and tickets go on sale next month. It's going to be so much fun! I have a great supporting act and some amazing surprise guests too!

We can't wait to see what the tour brings you! You must have to travel a lot. Do you miss your family?

Yes I really do, but we all keep in contact and they're all so supportive of me.

What are you hoping to achieve in a few years time?

I would love to star in some movies and possibly create my own clothing line. It's only the beginning, but I have such a big adventure ahead of me and I cannot wait!!!

Thank you for coming in today Chloe, it has been such a pleasure to finally meet you, we wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon!

Thank you so much for having me, it's been such a pleasure to meet you too! See you soon!!!

*********************************************************************************

For my article I chose to do both a report and an interview. For the interview I wanted to ask some questions that relate to my target audience. So, I asked her what her favourite make-up, clothes, movies and TV shows were, and then I created the answers to be the same as my target audience's, so it would attract them to the magazine. For the article, I wrote about her how her life has suddenly changed and how she has climbed to success. By managing to incorporate both an article and interview, I have developed the conventions.

Model names

So recently I have been thinking about names for my "pop star". I wanted a really catchy and funky name that everyone would love!!

So originally I had 5 names that I liked:

MILEY

DEMI

CAMI

CHLOE

BROOKE

But then I realised Miley and Demi were names of 2 huge pop stars, so I narrowed it down to just 3 names:

CAMI

CHLOE

BROOKE

After a lot of thinking and asking around of friends and family of which ones they preferred. I have decided that her name will be Chloe. Then, once I decided on her first name, I had to come up with her surname.

These were my options:

CHLOE LEE

CHLOE FOX

CHLOE DIXON

CHLOE HALE

CHLOE KING

CHLOE CARTER

CHLOE DAVIS

CHLOE WHITE

Eventually, I picked "Chloe White".

I hope you all like it! Please feel free to leave a comment of your favourite name or any other ideas you have below!

Cover model - USP

Unique Selling Point:

The model for my magazine is a young, stylish and attractive girl, who is 18 years old. This will appeal to both sexes, male and female. Females will be able use her as a role model and will want to be like her, whereas, for men, she will be physically appealing. Not to be stereotypical, but there is a high possibility that men will only buy the magazine because the model is attractive.

Articles in double page spreads

Recently I have been looking at the types of articles published on double page spreads in music magazines. They're either interviews with an artist or an article that is about the artist.

This article is about how Alexandra Burke and her career in the music industry. The article represents Alexandra in a positive way and that she is represented as a strong and powerful woman.

This is an article on Katy Perry about her unhappy childhood and now her successful breakthrough in the music industry. This article also shows Katy as strong and fierce. Not only do we get this impression from the text but also the picture of her with her fists up.

This double page spread of Rita Ora is an interview, which asks her questions about her new album, it's success and how successful she has been herself as an artist. We see Rita Ora being portrayed in a positive light here as they talk about her success and how great her life is at the moment.

Here is another interview, but this is with Lady Gaga, and they're talking about her past and how she has learnt from it. This article portrays Lady Gaga as both positive and negative as she talks about her bad past but then how she's learnt from her mistakes and how she is now living a better life and what she wants to achieve.

This article of Taylor is about her past, her mistakes and her bad behaviour. This portrays Taylor in a negative light as she is young, wild, crazy, rebellious and badly behaved.

In the double page spread of my magazine, I am hoping to do an article and an interview, which enables me to develop my own conventions.

Equipment

To take the photos for my magazine, I will be using a Canon EOS 7OOD camera to take the pictures, a folding PhotoSEL collapsible background, a fan, a studio light and then to edit my pictures and magazine I will be using softwares such as, 'Adobe InDesign' and 'Adobe Photoshop'. I will also use a white bed sheet to use on the floor for the pictures that require her to sit down.

Treatment

Below is my treatment of my magazine. This is like a mock-up, however, it is a bit more detailed and descriptive. It doesn't contain any images, but I have written about what content I want to include and what I want the cover lines to say.

Front Cover

At the top of the front cover there will be a masthead, which displays the name of the magazine, which is "FOCUS". In small writing above the masthead there will be a puff, which will say "Britain's No.1 music magazine". The genre of this magazine is pop music that is aimed at females aged 14-20. Underneath the masthead in small writing will be the price and the date. After conducting my questionnaire and asking females how much they're willing to spend on a music magazine, the majority came back with £2-£3. Therefore, my price will be £2.50. The barcode will be in the bottom right hand corner of the page. Underneath the masthead on the other side to the price and the date there will be the website address and the radio name. Most people in my questionnaire replied saying that they use the internet to read magazines and they listen to the radio. Therefore, I created a radio name and website address, which is "Focus.com" and "Focus Radio" for my readers.

The main cover image will be a close up of a solo female artist. The colours of her clothes will match the masthead and cover lines. The cover lines will be framed around the cover photo and will tell the reader what is featuring inside the magazine. The results I received from the questionnaire helped me decide what to feature in my magazine. So, the cover lines will talk about the latest music, the article featuring inside the magazine, the latest gossip and beauty and fashion. The majority of people answering my questionnaire said they would prefer to have vouchers as a freebie inside the magazine. Therefore, on the front cover there will be a cover graphic, which is a small circle on the page, which contains a small piece of catchy writing. This piece of writing will display that there are "free vouchers inside". Almost everyone said in the questionnaire said that they would prefer for a magazine to be published weekly. Therefore, my magazine will be published every Saturday morning.

Contents page

At the top of the contents page there will be a masthead that says "CONTENTS". Underneath the masthead it will say what issue the magazine is, e.g. May 2015. There will be an image on the right hand side of the page containing a medium shot of the model. Next to the image on the left hand side, there will be some text that tells us what is in the magazine and where to find it. So at the top of the text it will say "featuring..." and underneath, the contents of the magazine will be listed.

Splash Page

On the splash page there will be one big picture covering both pages. On the far right hand side of the page there will be 3 small boxes, of which 2 contain a small amount of text and 1 contains a small picture. Across the middle of the picture covering both pages, there will be a masthead of the artists name.

Double Page Spread

On the right hand side of the double page spread the whole page will consist of one picture of the artist. On the left hand side, there will be a box of text in the middle of the page that relates to the artist and around the box of text will be boxes containing smaller pictures.

However, nearer to the time of when  I am physically creating this, these ideas may change.

Risk Assessment

Here I have created a table that includes possible risks that could happen when in a photo shoot and how to stop that risk from happening.
